Cocoa Beach Travel Guide

Last updated: October 10, 2026.

Cocoa Beach is the Space Coast’s classic beach town — surf shops, the famous pier, and rocket launches visible right from the sand. It is the closest beach community to Kennedy Space Center, making it the perfect base for a launch trip. Also see our Florida Space Tourist Travel Guide and our Florida travel guide.

5. Best Time to Visit Cocoa Beach

Cocoa Beach works year-round, but summer (June–September) adds the magic of bioluminescent kayaking in the Banana River lagoon. Fall and winter bring the most consistent surf and comfortable beach days. Spring is pleasant and less crowded than summer. Watch the launch schedule — liftoffs are visible right from the sand any month.

6. Where to Eat in Cocoa Beach

The Cocoa Beach Pier’s restaurants put you over the Atlantic for seafood and sunset drinks. The surf-town strip along A1A mixes beach bars, taco joints, and breakfast cafes that open early for dawn-patrol surfers. Fresh local shrimp and mahi sandwiches are the unofficial town dish.
