About the Soyuz MS-14 Uncrewed Mission

Mission details for Soyuz MS-14 Uncrewed
TypeResupply
OrbitLow Earth Orbit
Launch Cost$80,000,000

Uncrewed Soyuz MS spacecraft to bring cargo to the space station. This demo flight tests a modified motion and navigation control system, as well as mating to Soyuz-2.1a rocket. The results will be used in development of an uncrewed cargo vehicle, based on Soyuz spacecraft.

This mission is part of NASA's Commercial Crew Program, a partnership with private companies like SpaceX to safely transport astronauts to and from the International Space Station. Using the SpaceX Crew Dragon spacecraft and Falcon 9 rocket, the program has restored American human spaceflight capability and enabled routine crewed missions to low Earth orbit.

Soyuz MS-14

Soyuz MS-14 (Soyuz MS 11F732A48 #743) was the spacecraft used for this mission. It is a ROSCOSMOS Capsule designed for Manned and Cargo ISS Logistics, Lifeboat and traveled to International Space Station.

Soyuz MS-14 is an unmanned flight of the Soyuz spacecraft intended to test a modification for the Launch Abort System. Soyuz is a series of spacecraft designed for the Soviet space programme by the Korolyov Design Bureau (now RKK Energia) in the 1960s that remains in service today. The Soyuz succeeded the Voskhod spacecraft and was originally built as part of the Soviet Manned Lunar programme. The Soyuz spacecraft is launched on a Soyuz rocket, the most frequently used and most reliable launch vehicle in the world to date. The Soyuz rocket design is based on the Vostok launcher, which in turn was based on the 8K74 or R-7A Semyorka, a Soviet intercontinental ballistic missile. All Soyuz spacecraft are launched from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan. 210 days while docked
